"You've heard the saying it's hot enough outside you could cook an egg, but what about cookies? We're putting that to the test in our live truck." Today marks the first day of summer, which can mean only one thing in Laredo, hot, hot and more hot. We decided to do an experiment and see how quickly cookies would bake in the front windshield of our live truck. We put them in a little after noon. Then we asked people around town to give us their best guess at how long it would take for the cookies to bake. "I figure about 9 hours." "one and a half." "30 if it's in the afternoon." "10 minutes." "two years." All good guesses. We left the cookies baking in the sun in the locked live truck and checked on them after 20 minutes and then after one hour before we took them out around four in the afternoon. You can see the cookies aren't fully cooked, but they did melt pretty quickly proving Laredo heat can melt just about anything.
