Kicks for Cure: Woman Tells Her Cancer Story

It's tough for anyone going through cancer, but one woman has caught the eye of a local university, and they are asking for the communities help to raise funds this Thursday.
This home is where 63-year-old Maria Eleana Delgado struggles on a daily basis.
Delgado has stage-three breast cancer and sometimes, she said, just living feels like a chore.
"It makes me very sick. It's makes me a lot of diarrhea, a lot of vomiting, very tired. A lot of crying, I'm sad, upset. You go through a lot of different emotions."
She continues to tell me how sick her treatment makes her as she struggles just to walk around the house.
This bed is where she spends the majority of her time; her medicine bottles are stacked close.
"At the beginning, it was very hard. It's still very hard. (Pause) But we take it a day at a time."
Daily chores like washing the dishes, sweeping or even standing up are hard to do.
She has four children and seven grandchildren and their future never leaves her mind.
"The oldest one, I think he's in denial. He doesn't want to talk about me being sick or me going to die or nothing like that."
"(Reporter):'What is the hardest thing you have to deal with?' (Delgado): That I'm going to die."
TAMIU Soccer will host their inaugural "Kicks for Cure" this Thursday at their double-header soccer game.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Maria Elena Delgado, who has stage three breast cancer. Donations will also be accepted at the game.
The double-header will be held at the TAMIU soccer complex on Thursday, Oct. 4. The first game will be the women, beginning at 5 p.m. The men will play at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are just $5.
