The South Texas Food Bank is trying to stop children from going to bed hungry here in our area where childhood hunger is at 45%.
They’re partnering with United ISD and asking parents this week to send you kids to school with change to donate to the cause.
“In the morning they will have breakfast in school. Maybe they can send with them 50 cents or a one dollar, and the school teachers, they already know. They will be collecting the money in a space in a little container with a nice flyer. It’s very meaningful for the food bank,” says Salo Otero, of the South Texas Food Bank.
