LCC opened its doors to a brand new state of the art studio and gave us a behind the scenes look. Check it out.
A grant was needed to make this dream a reality, employees with the fine arts department got together to write the grant.
“We convinced them. they gave us exactly $300,000. So that's the amount of money in here, not a penny less, not a penny more."
The high tech studio includes five high definition cameras, a state of the art production control board and a crane camera. They say this is quite different than the previous equipment that was there.
"When we started, there were only two VCRs, one lap top, and not even a chair."
Mass communication courses are not offered in this studio, the President of LCC says the main purpose of this new studio is for production of online video for the campus and the cable channel 17.
"I'm already getting requests to start a TV and broadcasting program, and I think that's something we will explore as a possibility."
Maldonado says when designing the studio, they wanted to mirror national networks such as MTV, ESPN, and CNBC.
"We now have the most advanced technological studio in the city and probably in South Texas higher institutions."
