Students and staff were excited for the ribbon cutting of a new school Wednesday.
The Early College High School located on the TAMIU campus features a new two story building that will house 400 students. Members of the Laredo Independent School District were on hand to speak at the ribbon cutting and voiced their excitement. LISD Superintendent Dr. Marcus Nelson commented: "These students are definitely special and we're proud of them for their commitment to this program and really making sure that academics is their focus. We know the best is yet to come and that's why we gave them world-class facilities to match our world-class kids."
The new $7 million dollar building consists of 14 classrooms, 2 computer labs, a conference room and an open dining space. The students attending this high school will receive half of the university credits when they graduate.
