Laredo Residents React To Colorado Movie Theater Massacre

By KGNS News

"Just can't wait to see the movie."
"I hope I enjoy the movie. I hope it's awesome."
That's what the people who packed the movie theater in Aurora, Colorado likely felt being the first to see the midnight showing of the 'Dark Night Rises', until a gunman walked into the theater and began shooting, injuring 71 people and killing 12.
Movie goers here in Laredo are excited to see the new batman movie, but can't help but reflect about the tragedy that happened in Aurora, Colorado.
"What can i tell you? I feel sad for all the people that were killed in this event. Also coming here to the same movie they went to see at 12 midnight and being being here...but life goes on."
This woman says her daughter is a huge fan of batman so she wanted to bring her to see the latest installment, but says she was a little hesitant. Another woman we spoke to says she's too big of a fan to stay away from the movie.
"I'm a very big fan of batman, but what happened in Colorado is a very devastating situation."
Some movie theaters around the country have canceled the showings of the movie, but a local man says he doesn't think Laredo theaters should.
"I think they should show it, but just provide more security around the theaters."
That's exactly what was seen. A noticeable addition at the Cinemark at Mall Del Norte was the increased amount of police presence.
"I feel confident because there's someone watching over us."
Seeing the additional officers made movie goers feel a lot safer.
"We got all these officers here. I feel good about it."
