A middle school library at Laredo ISD has a new name. There was a dedication ceremony at Lamar Middle School Friday morning, as it now bears the name of a former educator. In 1953, Frank Staggs joined the first faculty at the then Lamar Junior High. He spent many years as a speech and history teacher. Staggs was later promoted to assistant principal and then served as the school’s principal up until the summer of 1972. The family of Staggs was also in attendance at the library naming ceremony, which included the hanging of a portrait of the long-time educator. They say they couldn't be prouder to have the library named after him.
