The brother of President Barack Obama is in our sister city of Nuevo Laredo. Malik Obama crossed the border as part of the extension of a program here in Laredo called "peaceful solutions." His focus is on understanding how the Mexican government works in hopes of offering solutions to increased violence. His visit includes touching base with Nuevo Laredo mayor Benjamín Galván Gómez. Malik is the half-brother of President Obama through his father. He was born in Nairobi, Kenya and studied accounting and social politics. This is his second visit to our border area this year.
