City officials met in Cotulla to discuss the housing need near the eagle ford shale fracking areas.
Nearly two hundred people attended the meeting to discuss the possibilities of housing development projects.
Researchers from UTSA were there to deliver data they say proves the long term needs for more permanent housing.
We spoke to city councilman Charlie San Miguel who attended the meeting and feels this is a great idea.
"If you've noticed drive down I35 or any of the other highways where the boom is and you'll see a lot of RV's kind of referred to as man camps. So what they're doing is they want to provide a better living condition. the apartments hotels being built are very much needed."
San Miguel goes says the boom should last many years and says that the fracking has already impacted Laredo in a positive way.
He says since the boom happened our hotels have been reserved.
