Mexican Military Blamed In Man's Death

By KGNS News

The Mexican military is being blamed for a brutal beating leading to the death of a 29-year-old man.

According to the Mexican press, the victim was taken into custody by the soldiers while eating with his friends at a local restaurant.

Jose Manuel Esquedo-Nieto, 29, was rushed to a clinic by his father but died soon after. Reports indicate he had bruises to his entire body, fractured bones in his hands and legs caused by a sledge hammer and a wooden board allegedly used by the military to hit him.

There are also reports that another 24-year-old was also badly beaten in the same incident. A complaint has already been filed with the Human Rights Commission in his behalf. He said the military showed up to the restaurant demanding that they come forth with some weapons which he says they didn't have, accusing them of being Zetas.

An autopsy for Esquedo-Nieto is underway.
