One Child Dead, Another Injured, and Mother Missing After Shooting At Local Hotel

By KGNS News

We continue to receive more details about a shooting at a local hotel that left one child dead and another critically injured all while their mother is still missing this evening.
Our crew was out at the Holiday Inn working on another story when the shots were fired.
Terrified guests forced out of the holiday inn civic center, moments after shots were fired on the 14th floor of the building.
Police responding in droves with guns in hand and the shooter still in the building.
“It was definitely an intense situation when first responders came on scene you knew they meant business.”
Upstairs, a one-year-old baby boy was dead and his six-year-old brother shot twice allegedly by Demond Blunston, who police managed to tackle and drag out of the building minutes later.
“The children were shot at point blank range.”
It all began with officers dispatched to the holiday inn around 11-30 Tuesday, after a call from a town outside Houston.
Officers there believed a mother, 28-year-old Brandy Cerny, reported missing one day earlier and her two young children could be in danger.
All three were tracked down to the Laredo Holiday Inn and police here were notified.
“The officers arrived here and given a room number. Knocked on the door. Heard two shots fired inside. And a shot that narrowly missed the officers at the door.”
Police called for re-enforcement as the officers knocked down the hotel door.
A six year old was rushed by ambulance and to the hospital.
His one-year-old brother killed.
“Detectives along with officers are trying to canvas large crime scene hotel. Even more imminent is the welfare concern for the female.”
The female, the mother of the two children was thought to have been with her kids.
Police say Cernys' credit card was used to check in to the hotel.
However when her babies were shot, she was nowhere to be found.”
The search still continued hours after one child was confirmed dead and the other remained on life support.
Authorities are searching for clues and a possible motive.
Onlookers left in disbelief.
“It just breaks my heart to hear any child in anyway.”
The suspect, 36-year-old Demond Blunston faces a long list of charges.
At this hour, police are still searching for the children's mother.
