Switching gears to a heart felt story regarding one Laredo woman’s dying wish and an organization assuring that her request become a reality. It's a story you will only see here on KGNS, James Johnson joins us with more, James.
The name of the organization is Gateway Gatos of Laredo and today they were able to find her companion Chacho a new home.
Rufina Torres, her friends knew her as a sweet lady who loved her cat Chacho. After living in Laredo for 70 years, Torres would become I'll and be diagnosed with cancer. She had no family in Laredo and considered Chacho her companion. Worried about what would happen to Chacho if she were to die, she reached out to Gateway Gatos for help.
[cg:newsuper\birdie torres\gateway gatos of laredo] 04:04:24:02 "she knew she was dying, she didn't know what to do she worried about Chacho when she died and called me 04:04:36:05 "I told her don't worry well take care of him and find someone to love him.
Torres would later die, but before her death had one last wish and that was to find a home for Chacho. Founder of Gateway Gatos, Birdie, had become friends with Mrs.Torres and wanted to help. After a few days, Chacho would have a new place to call home.
[cg:newsuper\sue thompson\new owner] 03:58:20:29 "birdie posted on Facebook and my husband and I talked like why not take another cat that needs a good home.
Adoption is nothing new to Mrs. Thompson; she already has five cats and says giving Chacho love will be easy. All of her cats are from previous adoptions and shares her secret to finding the right pet.
[cg:newsuper\sue thompson\new owner] 04:02:39:07 "make sure you're ready to commit because it is a lot of work to pick out the right animal for your family. 04:03:03:10 "find something that fits you and your personality.
Mrs. Torres dying wish fulfilled, Chacho has a new home and is ready to be part of a new family. A family that will love Chacho like their own.
Now besides cats, Chacho's new owner has 13 dogs, 3 donkeys, chickens, geese, ducks, and ginnies. So I think it's safe to say there's enough love to go around. For KGNS, I’m James Johnson.
