Official figures are showing 'paisano' traffic is up this holiday season, meaning a boost in our local economy. These massive lines at our highway earlier this week gives us an idea of the amount of people traveling into Mexico through our city. Many of them making stops to gas up, take a rest, or even shop, and all of them adding to our revenues at our international bridges.
That's where the amount of vehicle crossings were recorded. At Bridge III, traffic was up by almost 100%, compared to last year. Almost a 10% at Bridge II, and about a 3% at Bridge I. That's an estimated 130,000 vehicles to cross the bridges within the seven days before Christmas. Pedestrian traffic was also up by about 16%.
