Lake Casa Blanca opened its gates in march of 1991. Since then, it's been the place of choice for many families to spend their holidays. There are 90 state parks in Texas. "It does have a lot of tradition. A lot of families come here. we have a lot of repeat visitors. every week, they're here and we like that." For the people in Laredo who complain about there being nothing to do, Park Superintendent encourages people to head to the lake. "We get so used to that area and we say 'oh there's nothing to do'. If you live in the valley, everybody says there's nothing to do, but you do have the beach." Our cameras caught people enjoying the day on the lake on a Wednesday afternoon, taking advantage of the overcast weather. The lake takes up nearly 1,700 square feet of the park. "Land acres is just under 400 land acres. That includes the day use areas and camping areas." Visitation has been increasing over the past couple of years. Cook says since taking over as park superintendent he has been working on big plans to re-vamp the park. "We are currently working on our amphitheater. We're going to upgrade that and get that back in use." He's hoping that will draw groups of students once the new school year begins.
