Though the season is over for the Laredo lemurs, Uni-Trade was still packed today... As ten little league teams would take the field all for a good cause. James Johnson joins us with more on this story, James.
Put together by the Lemurs, Lady Harleys, and the non-profit Pink To Do; today they held softball tournament with all the proceeds going towards helping cancer survivors.
Welcome to the Pink To Do Softball Classic 2013, where ten teams all part of the Gateway Little League would take the field all for a good cause. The money raised at this event goes toward helping cancer survivors pay for their medical expenses. The non-profit Pink To Do was one of the sponsors and because of them, has helped 450 people here in Laredo. Having events like this not only helps out, but it really makes a difference.

Pink To Do has also helped men who are survivors as well. One of the misconceptions is that breast cancer only affects women; something Pink To Do volunteer, Firova says is untrue.
[cg:newsuper\ester firova\pink to do volunteer] 11:50:22:04 <<<"men do need to check themselves as much as women">>> 11:49:51:10 <<<"there's no discrimination to this disease. We have men in Laredo who have been affected as young as 32 years of age.
Lemur’s player, Jimmy Mojica was also in attendance. His mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago and he says through his faith she's alive, strong, and beautiful.
[cg:newsuper\jimmy mojica\lemurs player #7] 11:58:08:15 <<<"my mom is a big influence in my life and that's why I do thinks like this.
Mojica would receive the news while playing. He says it wasn't easy to focus after that because he was thinking of his mom and hoping everything would be ok. Breast cancer really hits home for him and is why he supports events like this one.
[cg:newsuper\jimmy mojica\lemurs player #7] 11:58:43:29 <<<"ever since that day my life with my mom changed, I'm a lot closer to her. 11:59:26:20 <<<"it's something good were trying to figure out how were beat this and their doing something good.
Now Uni-Trade reps tell me this is the first year they have done this event and after seeing the incredible turnout by the Laredo community, they are all ready planning to hold this event for next year. For KGNS, I’m James Johnson.
