Patrols closed off a part of the highway after a collision near the 25 mile marker on Saturday afternoon.
A Chevrolet suburban heading south bound crashed head-on with a tractor trailer going north.
The driver of the suburban was transported to a hospital where he later died.
On Sunday, troopers tell us his name is David Costilla.
Costilla was a senior student at Cotulla highschool and was 17 years old.
He reportedly swerved onto the shoulder of the highway, then collided with oncoming traffic.
We are told the driver and passenger in the tractor trailer involved are from Mexico, but suffered only minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
