A dedicated teacher is honored at a local elementary with her own official day. September 10 will from this day forth be known as Lucila Treviño day in Webb County.
The proclamation was made Thursday morning at Ryan Elementary where Lucila 'Chila' Treviño dedicated 43 years of her life teaching over 1,000 first grade students.
Webb County Judge Valdez explains why it's important to recognize the contributions she and her family made to the community. "They impacted a lot of lives. A lot of students that went through the school became successful: lawyers, doctors, businessmen. So, I think it's important that the community know the impact that this lady had in this community."
September 10th was chosen, because it is Lucila's birthday.
