A woman caught shoplifting turns out to be a member of law enforcement.
Forty-two year-old Edna Hinojosa was arrested over the weekend for taking two sets of earrings worth $38 from the JC Penny at Mall Del Norte.
Investigator Joe Baeza says Loss Prevention Officers spotted Hinojosa pocketing the earrings and trying to leave without paying.
Upon further investigation, it was found that Hinojosa works as a TAMIU police officer.
The university confirmed her employment but would not comment any further.
