Two North Texas siblings who tried to smuggle ammunition into Mexico must each serve more than two years in prison.
A federal judge in Laredo on Tuesday sentenced 53-year-old Richard Alan Hannah and 49-year-old Judy Lynn Hannah. The brother and sister from North Richland Hills in April pleaded guilty to charges related to transporting ammunition.
Agents at the Lincoln Juarez Bridge in Laredo in February searched a truck driven by the woman, with her brother as a passenger. Investigators recovered almost 900 rounds of ammo and 17 firearm magazines hidden in the vehicle.
Both Hannahs admitted they were driving from Dallas to San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and knew the vehicle was hauling contraband. Details weren't immediately released on who allegedly hired the pair.
The Hannahs each received 29-month prison terms.
