Law enforcement closed off parts of the downtown area after shots were fired just across the river. It happened as our International Bridges were traffic came to a stand still shortly before 4 P.M. Viewers called our newsroom reporting Laredo Police and Border Patrol Agents were seen securing the streets close to Bridge Number 1, dawning high powered weapons. A spokesperson with border patrol tells us agents followed standard security protocol assuring our community remains safe. We're told the situation happened on the Mexican side of the river, where U.S. Agents heard shots fired then witnessed suspects load into a vehicle before heading south. Mexican Military was also notified, no injuries reported.
