Students React To Teacher Allegedly Charged With Child Pornography

Over the weekend, long time employee of U.I.S.D. Jorge Valadez was arrested for allegedly receiving and distributing pornographic videos and images of children. Today we visited united south high school where he taught to talk to students.
According to students the vibe around school is one of shock, as one of their teachers is arrested for alleged child pornography.
Fifty-five year old, Jorge Valadez has been a teacher with the United Independent School District for 22 years. According to students, Mr. Valadez was someone they would have never suspected of allegedly being involved with child pornography.
United South High School student said, "I was surprised, it was unexpected." Another student said, "I wouldn't expect it from him because he was loved by everybody and he was nice to everybody."
According to police documents, Valadez was using peer-to-peer networking sites to share images and videos of child pornography. Investigators discovered someone allegedly sharing several videos via the Internet, which lead law enforcement to Mr. Valadez's home. United South student, Mario Cortez was a student of Mr. Valadez and is confused after hearing these alleged allegations.
High school student, "I really don't understand that people who don't know him are saying a lot of bad things," "I feel confused cause he was a great teacher and now this happens."
Every year all U.I.S.D. employees go through criminal background checks through D.P.S. According to U.I.S.D. Superintendent, Roberto Santos, if Valadez is found guilty of these charges the district will look at their options.
Roberto Santos, U.I.S.D. Superintendent said, "it's obviously a serious allegation and we take this seriously." "He is under contract so were looking at legally what we can do at this point."
This case is currently being investigated by homeland security.
If convicted Valadez will face anywhere from 5 to 40 years in federal prison. As well as face a maximum fine of two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Valadez is currently being held at the Webb County jail.
