CostCo is the latest business to step forward and help a group of laredo-area kids get prepared for the new school year.
These Kennedy Zapata elementary school students love school.
“I like math reading science and social studies.”
And school got even more exciting as they and their friends each got one of 50 backpacks thanks to CostCo.
“I’m gona use it for school I’m gona put my supplies and everything in here.”
School officials say students and teachers work extra hard here.
These El Cenizo kids come from very low-income families.
Basics, as simple as a backpack can be financially overwhelming for parents so some of these kids learn to do without.
“We all need help it doesn’t matter how many kids you have. People run short of money.”
“We are very blessed that our community takes care of our kids so when kids come to school they’re ready to learn.”
it may some like just a backpack but for a student who has lots to carry, a book some scissors and don’t forget that eraser, a backpack can make a world of a difference.
“Something like a back pack that can be such a small token can be something very big especially for our kids that don’t have one. So when they come to school they come to learn.”
A proud moment for some star students.
The backpacks included a few school supply items like scissors, rulers, erasers and folders.
CostCo also donated the backpack of supplies to students at an elementary school in Rio Bravo.
