Summertime means longer lines at the bridges on the border, in fact this time of year is the busiest for CBP. "A lot of people seem to think that it's during Christmas or holy week and that is not the case." Officer Davolina says June and July are going to be the busiest that U.S Customs has in terms of the number of people coming through any port of entry. With the increased numbers comes more preparation for the officers. "We want to maintain the highest levels of security for everyone coming into the country." She has these tips for travelers to expedite the process. "Have your travel documents in order. Make sure you have your declaration in order as well." Another way they are preparing, the amount of lanes opened. "Every lane will be open in order to get people across the border in a timely manner." "At all times, at all our four international crossings." Davolina also wants to remind people that the CBP officers can inspect their baggage, their vehicles, heir person if needed. Something that has been a big help for the past few years is an radio station that give you updates on the bridge. "They can listen to the wait times, they can listen to our massaging there."
