A group of people from the Rio Grande International Study Center are getting ready to collect surveys to determine if the City of Laredo should implement a partial ban on plastic bags.
It's part of a project to try once again to pass at least a partial ban on the plastic bags meaning they won't be available at all retail stores.
The group says plastic bags are harmful to the environment and are an eyesore in Laredo.
They're planning on surveying hundreds of households to see if people here would agree with the partial ban.
Volunteers are needed to collect the surveys. Anyone 18 and older can join the team. If you are interested there is a mandatory meeting you must attend.
That meeting is scheduled for tomorrow July 12th at 5:30 P.M. in the multi-purpose room of the Laredo Public Library. For more information call 286-2417.
