Suspect in Holiday Inn shooting found unresponsive in jail cell

By KGNS News

An inmate held at the Zapata County Jail is transported to Laredo after being found unresponsive, but not just any inmate: the man arrested for the recent double murder at the Laredo Holiday Inn, 36 year old Demond Bluntson, back in June.

He was arrested after shooting two young boys in a room of the Holiday Inn. Both children would die, leading to two capital murder charges against Bluntson.

The Zapata County Sheriff confirms Bluntson was found unresponsive in his cell. He was immediately transferred to Laredo by ambulance, and taken to Laredo Medical Center.

He is said to be in stable condition.

No word on what he may be suffering from.

We are told multiple deputies from Webb and Zapata County Sheriff’s departments were guarding him.

Bluntson is also charged with another count of murder for the death of the boys' mother.
