TAMIU Recognized at National and State Levels

By KGNS News

Texas A&M International University has been named one of the most affordable universities in the nation. According to the U-S Department of Education, among public four year or above universities, TAMIU has one of the nation's lowest tuition prices.. The national average is $10,471 while TAMIU is well below that figure at $1,255.
"One of the factors was financial aid available. We have a tremendous amount because of generosity of the Laredo community."
Dr Keck says the large amount of financial aid available makes it accessible for students to get their degrees. We spoke to some students who are not surprised to see the school on the top of a list.
"There's no excuses for people not to come. It's easy and it's very affordable for every level of life."
"The price is really good and education is too. We have professors that are international. So you're getting the whole experience for a good bundle."
It's not just the affordability that Dr. Keck is proud of. Tamiu is topping yet another list.
The other big announcement came from the Texas Higher Education Journal which cited TAMIU as the top public institution of education for Latino students."
In 2011, TAMIU produced the largest number of Latino graduates with 94%. Right behind TAMIU is UT-Pan American with 90%. Keck says he knows the university is great, but to hear it from an outside source makes him very proud.
"Most affordable and best quality overall for Latino students. This is exactly what we were created to do. This is our mission."
