"We couldn't take a shower because the water was out."
Lucia Ramos tells us she couldn't do the littlest things that people take for granted, like washing their hands or doing the dishes since a water line broke in South Laredo Sunday afternoon.
"I woke up in the morning and I was worried. I checked the water and it still wasn't working."
Ramos says she had to send her kids off to school without taking a shower. As a stay at home mom, she is used to her routine of cleaning her house, but instead was left to sit and wait.
"I'm trying to do housework, but I still haven't showered."
It's not just homes where people are affected, but also nearby businesses like genesis motor company.
"Since I'm washing the cars, I can't do my job."
Utilities Director, Tomas Rodriguez, says the 311 number was getting tons of calls yesterday.
"We couldn't do anything yesterday because the gas company did not send anybody to fix or cut their lines."
"Rodriguez says they had to be careful with the project because gas lines surround the water pipe."
"It's extremely difficult because once you get to a certain point, you have to dig by hand."
Rodriguez says he hopes to replace the pipe by next year because the iron pipe has been eaten by the ground.
