Webb County Commissioners have voted to raise the county minimum wage from nine dollars to ten dollars an hour. The increase comes as part of the county's proposal to raise wages two and a half percent to cover cost of living increases.
Commissioners voted today to give retirees a cost of living increase also of two and a half percent.
Rosaura "Wawi" Tijerina \ County Commissioner:
“What we decided to do today is raise minimum wage from 9 to 10 dollars because of a cost of living and everything is going so high for example the gasoline.”
The increase goes into effect October first.
