A local woman has received a congressional certificate of recognition.
One hundred and one-year-old Francisca Martinez was honored for supporting her five sons, all of whom have served in the military. Congressman Henry Cuellar gave her an American flag and the Congressional Certificate on Monday.
Martinez’s son Guadalupe died in combat during the Vietnam War, and was surrounded by friends and family.
All five of her sons were in the U.S. Army and she says having them all serve makes her extremely proud.
