A Laredo woman is upset after her three dogs are stolen from her property. Almost a month has gone by and while she's spoken with the man she says stole them, she can't get any help in getting them back. And she's not the only one in her neighborhood going through this. Claudia Gutierrez says her dog Cookie and her 2 puppies went missing back on September 6th. She says they were on her front porch she ran upstairs for a few minutes and when she came back they were gone. When she called police, she was told there was little they could do so she put up fliers around her neighborhood. "Somebody ended up contacting me through one of the fliers. The man said he had my dog and the puppies." Claudia arranged to meet the man and paid him a reward for her dog Cookie, who needs medication. "I met up with him, he gave me my dog, he said he would give me the puppies if I gave him more money." She says Cookie was returned with two missing teeth and is now very nervous and jittery. Claudia says the man called her back asking for even more money and it's that conversation that left her scared. "He took something from me, not only that but he even said, I know where you live, be careful." Claudia's not alone, several of her neighbors have similar stories to tell about their missing pets. “I felt pretty sad, and I felt like crying because Oreo was a Christmas gift, and I loved him.” David and Victoria Flores say Oreo went missing back in June also stolen from their yard. "We would go outside and I would play with him." And their friend Rhiannon had her dog, Beautiful, go missing too. "She was like family to me, she was like, more than that, and she was like my sister." Claudia says she's hoping she can raise awareness in her neighborhood and residents will be more vigilant but what she really wants is help getting her two puppies back. "There was a crime, they didn't help me get my pets back, they did take something form me, but not only did they take my pets they took my sense of security as well, and that I can't get back." We spoke with the Laredo Police Department tonight they say they do take pet thefts seriously in fact they often recover pets for their owners. Claudia did file a police report in her case and police officials tell us they'll look into that case for us and let us know where the investigation stands.
