X-Mas Party for Kids in the Grimmer Community

By KGNS News

One local man wants to make sure another story like the Grimmer case doesn’t happen again and will be throwing a Christmas party for those kids in the neighborhood for the second year in a row.
Last years party was a big success, over 150 toys were given away and the organizer Juan Avila said he hopes to double that this year.
He said this event hits close to home for him and he understands what the grimmer children must have gone through.
"Honestly, when I was a child, I didn't have anyone to come around like that. My parents were poor. We really had to wait for Blue Santa to come around. So I want to be that blue Santa for these kids."
The event was finalized Tuesday, and will be held December 19th at the Laredo Civic Center.
Avila would like to thank the city officials who assisted him in putting this event together.
