A young boy shows the true meaning of the season.
Instead of playing with toys, he spent his Christmas Eve at Bethany house.
But it's not just the holidays that he volunteers, but every day.
Our Lauren Kendrick has more in our top story at five.
While other children were busy putting the last minute touches on their Christmas lists for Santa, a young boy spent his Christmas eve feeding meals to Laredo's less fortunate.
"It is important to serve and help others."
Nine year old Diego Garza explains how volunteering at Bethany house makes him feel.
"I feel good about myself."
"Sometimes they say he's so little but I say he's big enough to serve."
Diego's mom, Luz, says she explains to her son that not everyone has a home like they do so it's important to appreciate what they have and to help those with less.
"I think we need to instill generosity and service in other kids. I think that would improve our country and our lives."
Luz and Diego started what's now turned into a tradition three years ago on thanksgiving. This year, she decided to start taking Diego to Bethany house every Friday. Of course like all young boys, she says he would like to be playing with toys or friends, but he enjoys lending a hand.
"We're the cleaning crew. Sometimes it's just me and him. We sweep the floor, he cleans the tables and picks up chairs."
And during this Christmas holiday, it's easy to see Diego's smile lights up the kitchen of Bethany house. For his proud mother, that is the best present she could ask for.
"That is my hope. That he can continue and that when he grows up, we come with our grandchildren."
"Merry Christmas."
