Nixon H.S. Rebuilding and Redesigning
One local high school is about to make history. A 55- million dollar remodeling budget has been approved for J.W. Nixon High School and Vidal M. Treviño Magnet School. Our Carolina Garcia joins us with our top story tonight.
The time is finally here for remodeling at Nixon High School and the Vidal M. Treviño Magnet School. By the year 2015 Nixon High School, will be completely new .
Almost 50 years after its construction, J.W. Nixon High School is in for a new look.
The Board of Trustees decided a couple of days ago to demolish, redesign and recostruct some buildings of Nixon High School and the Vidal M. Treviño Magnet School.
After making this decision the quest was on for the perfect innovative design of the new buildings. The Board of Trustees met today to review proposals from different architects and construction companies.
The design chosen for Nixon High School includes everything the LISD was expecting, two story buildings, new gyms, tennis courts, and for the Vidal M. Treviño Magnet School.
This state of the art facilities will have a cost close to 55 million dollars.
The new building for Vidal M. Trevino Magnet School will be located on the corner of Lyon and Malinche, across the street from Nixon High School.
The demolition is expected to start in 2012 and will take about 2 and a half years be finished. Reporting from the studio, Carolina Garcia
