A South Laredo woman is found dead inside her home. Investigators remain on the scene of the city's second homicide at this hour.
Only we were on the scene moments after it happened. The call came in to police as a domestic violence in progress on the 4100 block of Declaration in South Laredo. When officers arrived they found a 48 year old woman in the kitchen with multiple stab wounds to her upper body. Authorities are not releasing many details yet, but they believe the person who stabbed the Laredo mother is her own relative. Family members and friends gathered around the home shocked to hear the unfortunate news. They could be seen comforting each other as investigators processed the scene.
Omar Maldonado, a neighbor, commented, "The neighbor over here she would take care of the children, but that's as far as I know."
Investigator Joe Baeza of the Laredo Police Department confirmed the death, "Unfortunately, she did pass away as a direct result of her wounds sustained in that attack. At this particular point, homicide investigators are here at this location investigating this case. They do have a person who is considered to be a suspect, and also potential witnesses that are being questioned as we speak right now at the Laredo Police Department."
The medical examiner was also at the scene recovering the body. The woman's name has not yet been released. Stay with Pro8News for the latest developments in this on going investigation.
