It could be the economy, or maybe just an increase in last-minute shopping; but this year's tax free weekend is proving to be a successful one for local vendors. As parents and students are preparing to head back to class, thousands are hitting local shopping centers to get their hands on some great last-minute deals. Our Cynthia Cano has more on the story.
" (Cynthia): Thanks Concetta. Day two of tax free weekend is underway. And, from the looks of it, several people decided to brave the long lines to save money for their back to school shopping. With students heading back to class on Monday, many people were out making some last minute purchases to get ready for the new school year. Everything from backpacks and lunch boxes, to school supplies such as binders and calculators can be purchased this weekend free of tax. It's an incentive, some consumers say, is worth the wait in line. 'This is tax free weekend; so everyone should take advantage. The economy is tough right now, so anytime we get a break like this, it's time to get out and take advantage of the situation,' says a local shopper. Coming up on Pro 8 News at Ten, we'll check out just how hectic this back to school weekend was for shoppers, and how well local stores fared this year. Back to you."

Now i know how it feels to be a Mexican National when i get all my taxes removed from certain purchases, but they still ned to pay for a manifesto in order to get all the tax money back...maybe the United States should remove that offer for them that way they can help pay for educating their children....
