Back-to-School Safety Tips from the Pros

By Cynthia Cano

Local law enforcement agencies gathered at a local HEB for its 3rd annual Back-to-School Safety Event. It took place at the H.E.B. on Del Mar and McPherson from 2 to 5 p.m. Representatives from U.S. Border Patrol, The Laredo Fire Department, along with the Laredo Police and Sheriff's Department were on hand. Agents offered some back-to-school safety tips for families who attended the event. Officials with the Sheriff's Department were there to register children through fingerprinting. Several activities were also held for children at the event, including a dance contest. Some advice these officials had to give to these children included: looking both ways before crossing the street, always wearing a seat belt, and never talking to strangers.
