Teacher arrested for improper relationship with student

By Ray Gomez

An Alexander High School art teacher is behind bars after e-mails revealed he was having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
33-year-old Jose Rogelio Morales is facing charges of sexual assault of a child non forcible and for having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
According to police the incident happened back in July.
The parents of the 16 year old found about one hundred e-mails between the two and contacted police.
Police were able to confiscate the computer and use it as evidence.
Police showed Morales the e-mails and he confessed to having a relationship with the 16 year old.
He is now at the Webb County jail under no bond.
We talked to UISD and they say they had received the complaint from the parents and the teacher was put on administrative leave about a month ago pending the outcome of the case.
Now that he has been arrested Morales is no longer allowed on UISD property.

Is there a day that goes by in Laredo where some pervert is not being charged with sexual abuse of a child?Must be the "family values" you hear coming from a certain culture that has such high moral standards."All In The Family" has a very different meaning than anywhere else .

For a city with a population of less than 200K there are sure a lot of pedophiles. Maybe its the coverage of Henry Flores and his idiotic attempt at a "change of venue" scheme, but there seems to be a big increase as of late, or people are STARTING to take action. I wish there was a castration law in effect, its sick watching this on local news casts.

A teacher with a student? I hope the saying "sixteen will get you twenty" is true.

Sexual abuse has always existed in our city. It is my opinion that NOW the victims feel confident to expose the "secret" knowing that our District Attorney's office will listen to them, support them & PUNISH the sexual abuser by sending them to jail w/no parole. Prior DA plea bargain cases & allowed the sexual abuser to get a slap on the hand. Abuser would be out of jail in no time only to abuse another child. Sexual abusers are repeat offenders & will be be cured.

Sexual abusers need jail w/no parole not castration. They can still abuse children even if they are castrated. That is not the answer to their problem. Keep them in jail with no chance of getting out. Sexual abuse occurs in ALL cultures, economic status and even ALL levels of educated professionals. Did Laredo forget about the married couple who was a teacher & pyschologist who sexually abused their daughters a few years back?????

What is going on? Geeeeeeez! Both the UISD and the LISD MUST improve their respective screening processes beford hiring any of their employees and that is inclusive of the Superintendant on down to the janitors! I realize that there are some students that have problems but the school staff members need to SHOW SOME RESTRAINT!

A good relationship with a teacher today may help you in the future. You will need teachers' written recommendations to apply to a college or for a job after high school. And if you're thinking about going into a career in science, who better to ask about the field than your science teacher? Teachers are often plugged into the community and may be the first to find out about local competitions, activities, or contests.Teachers are another group of adults in your life who can look out for you

It is possible to try too hard, though. Here are some things to avoid when trying to establish a relationship with your teacher: Not being sincere. Teacher’s sense when your only motivation is to get special treatment, a college reference, or a job recommendation. Trying to be teacher's pet. Your behavior will come off as phony and your classmates may start to resent you.

In no way, should one blame a student for the indescretions of a teacher who was placed there by, not only the recommendation of Alexander High School Administrators, but also screened by UISD Human Resource Department. It seems as if screening process has failed our students.

Granted, there are many sick people out there, but let us be realistic: where are the parents? Here we go with the same idiotic excuses: "I must work to provide..." "I am really tired after work..." etc., but really if you want children one thing that this entails is to be responsible parents!!!! Do not blame everyone else, it all starts at HOME!!!!

A lot of these teenage girls nowadays are more aggressive in their pursuit of boys and older men. While what this adult educator did was wrong and cannot be excused, it should serve as a wake-up call to all parents of teenagers to be more vigilant. Supervise your children and set stricter rules of conduct and dress. If the child does not listen, just take away the cell phone, the allowance, whatever it takes. You don't want your child to end up in a situation like this one.

The saddest thing about this is that while this man waits for trial, he will be teaching at another school. Apparently all they do is send him to the other school district, in this case LISD. About a year ago there was a female teacher arrested in UISD for having marijuana in her vehicle and now she is working for LISD. Do some research and you will see how messed up the schools are.

Teachers who have pending investigations of inappropriate contact w/a student should sit at home - leave without pay until the allegations have been cleared of any misconduct. Legal process should prosecute these sexual deviants w/jail and no parole. Hit them where it hurts- their pocket books and freedom to access children. Bet teachers will behave BETTER when appoached by on over active student!!!!
