Hundreds of people turn heads at a local park early this morning; all in the name of helping the children of the Sacred Heart Children's Home. Our Annette Garcia joins us with more.
"(Annette:) It seemed like the left over rain clouds helped drag people out of bed and into their walking shoes early this morning. People crowded the newly opened North Central Park this morning to take part in a 5K run/walk to benefit the Sacred Heart Children's Home. Organizers handed out awards including trophies to those who came out ahead of the rest in the competition. Overall members of the Next Generation Rotary who helped organize the even say the turnout was about double of what was expected. "We're absolutely grateful, we had a great response almost 300 people came out to race with us," says Jose Ceballos, President of Next Generation Rotary. Tonight at ten--reaction from participants who say they're glad to have helped the Sacred Heart Children's Home, but are also glad that city officials have helped them. How? With a park. We'll take a closer look at the new North Central Park.
