Wackenhut Officer Takes Gun Whack to the Head

A Wakenhut officer is taken to the hospital after being struck in the head with a gun. It happened in a south Laredo neighborhood at around 3:45 a.m. Police responded to the 4700 block of Luka Lane early this morning after receiving calls that a man had been shot. Witnesses say they heard several gunshots but police say no one was found shot. The victim, who was also a Wackenhut officer, appeared to have a laceration to his head and was taken to L.M.C. Officers did manage to find one bullet casing, but the gun was not recovered. Authorities say they may have a suspect, but the investigation into what exactly happened is still ongoing.
