City considering tougher water restrictions
The director of the utilities department will make a presentation at tonight's city council meeting.
They will be talking about renewing the water conservation ordinance.
According to the director of utilities Tomas Rodriguez the ordinance needs a little updating.
They have come up with a 60-year plan to fit the Texas regional plan of water conservation.
Tomas M. Rodriguez, director of utilities
"We are thinking that in the next 60 years the demand will be so great that we are going to have to conserve or we are running out of water."
At tonight's council meeting they will be discussing tougher penalties for those who are not in compliance with the ordinance.
Last year the city gave more than 34 hundred warnings and close 120 citations.
