Residents of one south central Laredo neighborhood woke up to a swarm of law enforcement officers outside of their homes early this morning. Police say the commotion was the result of a little girl going missing from her home. Humberto Vela, neighbor, "Seemed like it started sometime around six in the morning. A lot of police officers arrived shortly after that an ambulance. One of the neighbors called us and mentioned something about a two year old child missing." The two-year-old girl disappeared from her home in the 600 block of Malinche where her family lives, across the street from Humberto Vela. "There was some crying observed. We could hear some crying going on." But it was around the corner from Vela where the girl was discovered. "Police say this is the mobile home where the little girl ended up in the overnight hours here at the corner of Aldama and Martin. Its not clear at exactly what time she left her house but this is where a passerby found her crying on the side of the road." Officer Alberto Escobedo says the girl was taken to Doctors Hospital for evaluation. It turns out she was not harmed. "Apparently she exited her home whether its through the front or through the rear we don't have the info on that." "It’s being handled as a child abduction case. They're going to do the full investigation." Back at the little girl's house several high-ranking police officers were seen investigating around 7-30 am. The child's siblings were later seen heading off to school. "They're relatively new to our neighborhood. I really don't know them but I have seen their children playing in the yard so it seems like there's a family with several children." As of tonight the parents are not facing any charges and no other suspect is being named. Again, police are treating this, as a child abduction case although they say the little girl was not taken from her home.
