City still pondering bus fare hike

City council listened in a public hearing today those who are against of raising bus fares.
At the special meeting El Metro officials, and city council had their share of concerns on the increase of the fare.
In particular a group of passengers got together collecting eleven hundred signatures of people against the increase in bus fares.
"We the bus passengers, workers of this community and voters of the city. Together we request there be no increase in the bus fare. No elimination of bus transfers and Sunday services."
Council asked El Metro authorities to present them with another recommendation for the next city council meeting.
Some council members wanted to take Sunday services out and some want to keep the bus transfers.
According to city manager Carlos Villarreal, the council needs to do something quickly as El Metro is losing money and the transportation system will be in jeopardy.
