VMT Celebrates Mexican Independence

By Ray Gomez

Red white and green was the theme over at one local campus today in celebration of Mexico’s independence day.
Vidal M. Trevino Magnet School celebrated the "Diez y Seis de Septiembre" with a big party this morning honoring Mexico’s independence day.
It all began with songs being sung in Spanish by the students.
The celebration has been a long lasting tradition at VMT because it honors the Mexican culture.
Dr. Martha Villarreal, director, Vidal M. Trevino, "It also is something we want our students to participate in as part of who they are, as part of their identity and of course we want to keep them knowledgeable about the Mexican connection they have."
The festivities included great decorations, a live band, and a lot of Mexico pride.
