Anniversary Steak Plate Sale to Beef Up American Legion

By Cynthia Cano

It's been around for 90 years and, today, members of the American Legion ensured it would be around for many more years to come. Mayor Raul Salinas was on hand to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of American Legion Post 59 in downtown Laredo. Members celebrated with music and plenty of food. The anniversary is one people are proud to be a part of. Rodolfo "Popo" Aguilar, Post Commander, said, "it gives us great sense of pride. Our post has been here since 1919, and it is something were very proud of and hope to keep going for years to come." Profits from the steak plate sale go to benefit the American Legion and to renovate the post.
