Missing girl and person of interest crossed into Mexico days ago

Officials with the Laredo Police Department are now saying they have reason to believe the missing girl and the person of interest she is with are in Mexico.

12 year old Karla Rivas and 29 year old Herman Hernandez Canales were caught on camera crossing into Mexico at Bridge One at about 1pm on Tuesday, hours after she was reported missing.

Until now, police believed the two had stayed in the US and would not cross into Mexico.

The FBI recently became involved in the case, tracking Canales' cell phone signal.

Police are currently contacting Mexican authorities and relatives in Mexico for assistance in the case.

According to police Canales is originally from Honduras and has been deported from the state of California back in 2004.
