Police review video showing missing girl in Mexico

By Ray Gomez

Authorities are now reviewing video they say shows a Laredo girl is now in Mexico.
Police have not released any of that surveillance footage but they say it shows that 12-year-old Karla Rivas and 29 year old German Hernandez Canales, who is a person of interest in the case, crossed into Mexico Tuesday afternoon.
Until now, police believed the two had stayed in the US and would not cross into Mexico.
Police say they are working with Mexican authorities to try and locate the two.
Now questions are being raised of whether or not the girl went willingly.
Off. Albert Escobedo, Laredo Police Department
“This new information will probably confirm this information we're still dealing with this as a missing person report and will treat it as such.”
The girl’s mother told pro 8 news earlier this week that she didn't believe Karla would willingly leave with Canales.
Police say she is still cooperating.
The FBI recently became involved in the case, tracking Canales' cell phone signal.
Meanwhile, a statewide Amber Alert has now been cancelled.
If you know the whereabouts of Canales you are asked to contact authorities at 795-2800 or Crime Stoppers at 727-tips.

Why didn't this story continue to be a headline? She is a local child thats missing!!! Is the police trying to convince the public that she left willingly? Is there community missing children organization? Why aren't their fliers and posters being passed around or posted? I am a parent of 3boys I would move heaven and earth for them or anyone who's child has been taken or that is missing. Laredo!! Lets keep our eyes open and our children safe.

Why would they cancel the amber alert? Reguardless if she went willingly or not she is still a child that is missing. There have been many cases that should get a lot of publicity and do not it outside of our own community.
