City may provide Swine Flu vaccine to the public through a clinic

By Ray Gomez

Since the Health Department received their first batch of the Swine Flu vaccine, their staff has been administering shots to high-risk patients.

Their main goal has been to vaccinate individuals most likely to get sick, targeting pregnant women, children under the age of five, and people with underlying conditions.

The Health Department received 8,000 doses and may possibly open them up to the public through a clinic:

"One of the target groups to reduce the risk of infection is the 2 to 24 year old group and at this point with the vaccine that we got we think it’s important to conduct a public clinic."

The Health Department is still working out the details.

No date or time has been set.
