The City Manager, Mayor, Airport Director and selected members of City Council will start their journey next week to promote the Gateway City.
They plan on meeting with the presidents and commerce administrators from Panama, Guatemala, Costa Rica and other cities for Laredo’s potential as an inland port:
"We have a presentation that is going to be made. The City Manager will go and Airport Director. But we have a plan that we are going to present."

I took a trip to China back in 2005. I also took my sister. The current City Sec. also went. The purpose for my trip was to bring back industry. Obviously my trip did not work and was all a sham in order to take what is not legally mine. How do I know that my trip was worthless? Today's leaders are taking a trip just like the one I took.

If Laredo is bringing in more people from other places for the intension of "boosting our economy", then we should re-vamp our whole traffic coordination, especially our traffic lights' syncronization. Our Laredo streets are not ready for all of this traffic. Even when there is a National Mexican Holiday, our streets are bursting at its seams. Business for Laredo from other countries is a fantastic idea, but be read for all of the traffic and the unexpected traffic misfortunes accompanied by it.

Mayor make sure all the pork you consume is fully cooked. You wouldnt want to bring back parasites in your stomach. Are we (the taxpayers)have to pay for all the bottled water you consume? Make sure you keep all the receipts.

these fools should stay over there! the mayor and all the city officials plus the media think that the people in laredo are still with the mind set of the martin years. the media should start asking tough questions. they will bring back more drug cartels to laredo to open bigger 8 liners

Most, if not all, of the individuals that are PRO import/export either own a forwarding agency, are U.S. Customs Brokers, or work for one. Does anyone remember how peaceful Laredo's traffic "system" was before NAFTA? It does boost our economy, however, at least during an influx of tourists, PLEASE enforce traffic laws. How can anyone even think of inviting other countries over if we can't even handle the current local traffic situation?

as i said, what a joke, more inport export business. only a very small % of people make money in this business. the rest of the workers are minimum wage warehouse workers and clerks. over worked and underpaid. high tech, that is what we need here. forget about the darn traffic lights and the traffic. we need high tech, top paying jobs so our young people will have a future here in LAredo. some people in here are right, it's time for the media to get in the politicians faces.
