Firefighter pleas guilty to sexually abusing relative for three years

By Ray Gomez

A Laredo firefighter in court for sexual assault charges enters a plea of guilty in the 406th District Court.

Thirty-nine year old Luis Rolando Garcia is charged with sexually abusing a male relative over the span of three years, from when he was 10 years old. According to the District Attorney’s office, CBP’s investigations were hampered due to a lack of cooperation from some witnesses.

The victim came forward to police eleven years later.

Garcia is currently on temporary suspension without pay from the Laredo Fire Department.

His sentencing is set for February 19th.

Look we all make mistakes he was young at the time..I mean I know It was wrong, but who are we to judge when we all are human and make mistakes as well. This man saved many lives including mine, and i will never forget that I dont care what he did. The day this man gets sentenced will be a sad day, and big loss to the medical field.

YOUR REASONING MAKES ME SICK. DON'T YOU REALIZE THAT THIS IS A CRIME THAT CAN KEEP REPEATING ITSELF ON THE NEW PERSON THAT WAS HURT. IT DAMAGES THE VICTIM FOR LIFE. IF WE REFUSE TO CONSIDER CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE A CRIME, THIS IS GOING TO CONTINUE HAPPENING. REMEMBER WE CANNOT CONTINUE TO SWEEP IT UNDER THE RUG. PLEASE WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES. I

I'm appalled to know there are people out there who would deem this monster a hero. It does not excuse him of anything. He did it and now he saves lives. So what if he tries to make-up the past by saving others. He scarred someone. He robbed him of his soul and innocence. "Amiga", how dare you preach for his safety. You were saved now do what's right, jerk. Guess he saved you for back-up whenever this crime would see the light of day. Shameless,

Amiga your really have some mental problems going on with you. I try to see the good in things but abusing a child there really is nothing good about that. He was 18 years old he knew what he was doing.

When will the Criminal BS end? said on Wednesday, Dec 9 at 5:15 PM

When will all this criminal BS end in Laredo? We had Pepe Martin, the Dovalinas, and some firefighters. My sister was raped by a drunken off-duty fire fighter. Thanks to political connections the act was dismissed by former DA Joe Rubio. Laredoans, you need to wake up. You need to vote out the trash. I never approved o Landin, but it was not my call to make. I believe that Carlos Villarreal made a huge mistake.

The City really needs to do away with all the collective bargaining contracts. Why do police and fire need unions? They can't strike! Laredo should stop hiring police and fire, use volunteers. How many people want to be police men and firemen, and would pay out of their own pockets to certify themselves to do so? Keep a skeleton crew on the payroll as City employees and hire directly fom the volunteer pool. Stop these Pirates, these jobs are fought for; no one is drafted to be a cop or fireman.
