Pro 8 Exclusive: Dashcam video shows officer almost hit by speeding motorist

By KGNS News

It’s a rare glimpse of an even rarer occurrence.

The Laredo Police Department has released dashcam video of an accident involving an officer.

The incident occurred while the officer was directing traffic at a construction site along Zapata Highway.

The video shows the officer reacting to a speeding motorist heading his way; the video suddenly ends when the squad car is hit from behind.

Officials with the department say that while these instances are rare, it is an example of why motorists need to exercise caution when behind the wheel.

The driver in this incident was cited for failure to control speed and for driving without insurance.

Typical Laredo drivers..no respect for anyone, not even the police. Driver should have been arrested for attempted assault with a motor vehicle. But then this is Laredo!
